Clean Technologies group highlights the viewpoint of sustainable development. The responsible use of raw materials and development of Cleantech-processes in harmony with the management and control of industrial environmental load are the most important objectives in the research field we provide. Research themes

Research is divided in three main themes: EPR (Effluent Purification and Reuse), NPPD (New Processes and Products Development) and SURE (Sustainable Reuse of Solids). Social aspects of sustainability are taken into consideration through our collaboration in educational development and coordination of joint international projects.

Examples of ongoing research projects

  • NEPTUNE (Network for Environmental Projects in Technology, UNited in Europe) -concept based on problem based leargin principle and gives to our students skills in the international field. Netherland, Italy, France, German and Slovenia

  • ArvoUute: Value added products from energy production value chain

  • NSPPulp: New sustainable products from the solid side streams of the chemical pulp mills

Awards

AaltoCell -process was awarded as a shared second place in the Ministry of Employment and the Economy (TEM) international biorefinery competition on 2015.
